Malawi Economic and Justice Network (MEJN) has called for a collaborative effort towards the fight against Gender Based violence.
MEJN region cordinator Mike Mervin Banda noted that through collaboration of all sectors in ťcountry it is possible to kill the vice.
Banda was speaking this in Mangochi district in an interview after a media training organised by MEJN on reporting cases involving gender based violences.
During the training which was also attended by officials from Malawi Police Service and Social welfare department it was discovered that Gender Based violence war is still facing more challenges, making the efforts rendered to be unfruitful.
Among others, authorities at the training mentioned about lacking stop Centres, poor mobility and late reporting or handling of the cases as main problems that have pulled down the works towards ending GBVs.
Responding to these Banda said that Malawians need to join hands. He therefore disclosed that as an organisation they have extended their activities to accommodate more stakeholders to ensure that every sector is involved. He was optimistic that the inclusion of Police, social welfare office , media and all stakeholders will bear good fruits.
On his part Isaac Machinjiri who is a social welfare officer of Mangochi District hailed MEJN for good gestures towards the fight against Gender Based violence. On the increased number of stress children and criminal cases by children Machinjiri said as an office will make mechanisms to control the problems.
