The minister of Gender, Community Development and Social Welfare Jean Sendeza has asked all Malawians to unite in fighting against abuse that the children in the country face.
Sendeza said on Wednesday in Lilongwe on the launch of “The Continental Study Report on Children Without Parental Care in Africa”.
Sendeza said the abuses happen because the children live and grow without parental care.
We have seen women raising children own their and also children been raising each other and we need to the communities to look into these”, Sendeza said.
She also added that, the government will make sure that all regulations are put place.
Sendeza has further noted the concerns that the databases of children without parental care are not put in Nation Statistical Office.
Speaking, the SOS National Director Smart Namagonya, said the report being launched is based on the increased figures of children lacking parental care.
Namagonya has also asked the government to consider increasing financial allocations to the department of children affairs.
The launch of the Continental study Report themed on ” Strong Families Keys to the Promotion and Realisation of Child Right in the Country”.
