A creative and innovative Ernest Andrew says his latest invention of electricity from stones and magnets will help to boost studies among learners at Chongwe 2 Primary School in Dowa.
Speaking in an interview, Andrew said being a form two school dropout, he plans to connect the electricity to the school so that learners should study at night without problems.
“The electricity is helping many people in this community. Right now people who have been connected to the electricity are saving the money which in the past were used to buy batteries for their children to study at night.
Although I am facing challenges to source electricity poles, I intend to electrify Chongwe 2 primary school so that learners should study easily,” He said.
He further said, his invention will help in the development of the country as people in his community will be able to do their businesses without electricity problems.
Ronnex Kateya, a student from Nanthomba Secondary School benefiting from Andrew’s invention said the electricity has helped him to have more time to study at night, and that this has helped him to do better in school.
“I am benefiting a lot from the electricity because in the past I was not able to study at night but right now I am studying without problems. In the past, I had to spend K1000 a day to buy battery for my torch to study at night but currently I am studying without worries,” He said.
In her remarks, Tiza Aggie Gondwe who has been inspired by Andrews’ invention said such innovations needs to be embraced in order to achieve Malawi agenda 2063, calling for support to such productive ideas.
Andrew has since appealed to the general public for financial support in order for his ambition of transforming his innovative concept to become true.
