The 2024 African Land Forces Summit (ALPS) annual conference is scheduled to take place on Wednesday April 24 in a Zambia’s tourism city of Livingstone.
State President Hichilema is expected to grace the opening ceremony for the 3-day event according to a programme released by the Zambia Army Public Relations Unit early this week.
With this year’s theme on “Regional Solutions to Transnational Problem”, some of the key issues high on the agenda includes “Human Trafficking and Migration Impacts on Security, Environmental Effects on Regional Security and Combating Transnational Criminal Organizations.
Communication made available to the public indicates The Zambian Army, Director General of Education, Libraries and Museums. Brigadier General Kennedy Silomba will moderate the regional event which is expected to draw over 500 delegates from about 40 African countries, Europe, North America and the United States of America.
The current event is sponsored by U.S Army Southern European Task Force, Africa (SETAF-AF) and the Zambian Army.
The African Land Forces Summit (ALFS) is a forum for senior leaders from land forces across Africa, the U.S and other partner nations to solidify relationships, exchange information on current topics of mutual interest and to encourage cooperation in addressing challenges.
Meanwhile planning meeting is underway in preparation for the Summit at Radisson Blue Hotel in Livingstone’s Radisson Blue Hotel which was opened on Monday morning by Defense Minister Ambrose Lufuma.
