MEC MEETS BALAKA MPLC AND DEST MEMBERS AHEAD OF NEXT YEARS GENERAL ELECTIONS.

MEC chief elections officer Andrew Mpesi has said MEC will conduct next year’s general election in line with electoral laws.

He was speaking during a stakeholders meeting the electoral body had with Balaka district multiparty liaison committee (MPLC) and district elections support team (DEST) held from Thursday to Friday at Uptown Lodge in the district.

For his part, Balaka District Commissioner Tamanya Harawa said DEST will work with and support MEC throughout the entire electoral process to ensure credible elections.

For his part, senior chief Chanthunya of district said as chiefs they would support MEC in the electoral process through further disseminating MEC’s electoral messages such as reconstituted wards and constituencies. He deplored some MPs who were abandoning their constituencies already and diverting efforts to their new constituencies of interest adding that their mandates to work in their elected boundaries were not yet over.
