United With Youth Against Corruption’: Malawi Marks 2025 Anti-Corruption Day

The First Vice President of Malawi, Honourable Dr Jane Ansah attended the Commemoration of 2025 International Anti-Corruption Day that was being held today at the Bingu International Convention Centre in Lilongwe.

The 2025 International Anti-Corruption Day theme this year is, “Promoting Human Dignity in the fight against Corruption” which compliments the global campaign under the crucial role of young people in stopping corruption and building a future of integrity, transparency and accountability under the theme “United with Youth Against Corruption, Shaping tomorrows Integrity”.

Dr Jane Ansah said that the youth should guard their future by standing with integrity and that the government is aware of rampant corruption that the country is facing and has also commended the Anti-Corruption Bureau on its work in combating corruption. She has also promised the Bureau that the government will continue to help technically and financially so that they are fully empowered in the fight against corruption.

Director General of the Anti-Corruption Bureau, Gabriel Chembezi also stressed that they are ready to take serious action in the fight against corruption in the country with the help of the government and the police in order to gain trust from the citizens of the country.

He also said that their organisation will commit to protect vulnerable citizens by taking corruption cases seriously across all the institutions and public offices in Malawi by strengthening their surveillance and empowering the bureau to arrest corruption suspects without requiring a warrant. Chembezi has warned all public offices that they will not hold back in taking action against those breaking the law.

Different Institutions were present at the event and had their representatives shed more light on how their institution carry out their work in helping in the fight against corruption in the country. Some of the Institutions that were present were The Anti-Corruption Bureau, ESCOM, MASM, The Law Commission and The Malawi Revenue Authority.
