Mighty Mukuru Wanderers FC President Commends Supporters for Exemplary Conduct

Thomson Mpinganjira, the president of Mighty Mukuru Wanderers FC, expressed his appreciation for the team’s supporters’ exemplary behavior during their recent TNM Super League match against arch-rivals FCB Nyasa Bullets at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre. Mpinganjira, who is also the club’s board chairperson and a prominent business mogul and philanthropist, had previously issued a warning that he would withdraw his sponsorship if there were any incidents of misbehavior from the fans.

The threat came after fans had twice held the players hostage and hurled insults at them following a one-all draw against Dedza Dynamos Salima Sugar and a 0-1 loss to rookies Extreme FC, both at Kamuzu Stadium. Mpinganjira commended the players for their impressive performance and acknowledged that, despite not winning, the team dominated the match and deserved a better outcome with a bit of luck.

While he was not present at the stadium, Mpinganjira received reports from various sources confirming that the supporters behaved well during the game. As an additional measure to ensure the security of the players and technical team, he personally hired an extra 20 police officers. Mpinganjira took the opportunity to commend the fans for their positive cheering and support, emphasizing the importance of such conduct rather than engaging in misconduct.

Dinesi Chitsulo, the chairperson of the team’s main supporters committee, expressed his relief that the fans adhered to the president’s repeated calls for good behavior. Chitsulo highlighted the team’s strong performance and the fans’ well-behaved attitude. He further emphasized the committee’s commitment to enforcing discipline among supporters, as they understand the potential consequences of losing sponsorship due to fan misconduct.

Thomson Mpinganjira, through his company Ekhaya Farms Foods Limited, is the largest sponsor of the Nomads, providing a sponsorship worth K410 million. His support plays a crucial role in the success and stability of the club
