In a recent match, Blue Eagles FC, led by assistant coach Christopher Sibale, suffered a 3-0 defeat against defending champions FCB Nyasa Big Bullets. Sibale attributed the loss to alleged threats made by referee Mayamiko Kanjere towards the Eagles players during halftime in the tunnel. According to Sibale, the referee threatened to physically harm the players due to previous accusations of mistreatment towards referees. This purportedly caused the Eagles players to lose concentration and ultimately led to their defeat.

However, Sibale also acknowledged that his team’s failure to convert their chances into goals was a contributing factor to their loss. He recognized that in football, when one team fails to capitalize on scoring opportunities, the opponent often takes advantage of their chances and scores. Sibale expressed the need for his team to improve their goal-scoring efficiency in future matches.

As a result of this defeat, Blue Eagles FC dropped to 8th position in the league standings with 15 points from 12 games. Interestingly, this was the first time in two seasons that they lost to FCB Nyasa Big Bullets at Kamuzu Stadium, as they had previously played two consecutive draws against the log leaders in previous seasons.
