NORWEGIAN GOVERNMENT LAUNCHES THE AQUACULTURE AGRICULTURE.

The Norwegian government in partnership with Co-operative development foundation of Canada has officially launched the the intergrating aquaculture agriculture in order to combat food insecurity in Malawi today at BICC in Lilongwe.

Dr Julius Chulu, director of livestock and animal health mentioned that the 5 year initiative looks to improve all aspects of the aquaculture and agriculture supply chain. This includes providing beneficiaries with adequate training on best practices for fish farming, improved access to resources required for aquiculture and improved access to markets.

He also added that the project aims at providing climate resilient solutions to food insecurity while silmutaneously empowering women and the youth.

The event also commemorated the launch of the intergrated aquaculture-agriculture handbook module. The handbook will serve as an outline for the beneficiaries of the project, instructing them on how to combine best practices for aquaculture and agriculture best practices to improve output results on both.
