Police in Chikwawa are keeping in custody three men for allegedly murdering their own brother Dailo Alidi 40, of Chafulumira Village Traditional Authority Makhuwira in Chikwawa District over land disputes.
In an interview with Moyo fm, Chikwawa Public relations officer Sargent Dickson Matemba revealed that the three have been identified as Alfonso Alidi 37,Anold Alidi 32, and Rabson Alidi 27, all from Chafulumira Village Traditional Authority Makhuwira.
This occurred on 22 July,2023 around 1800 hours.
According to the reporter who is the mother for the children told Police that the children were disagreeing over ownership of the land which was left before their father died, and the suspects suggested that they wanted to sell the land which did not please their elder brother and a fight erupted that left their brother unconscious.
After some hours they returned to the place where the fight took place and found their brother dead and took his body and burried it near Chiuzimbi river in the area to conceal death.
But in the morning of 23 July,2023 the wife of one of the suspects revealed the issue to other villagers who followed it up and found the grave.
The matter was reported to Makhuwira Police unit where Police rushed to the scene and exhumed the body. Postmortem conducted by Makhuwira Health Centre’s practitioner revealed that death was due to severe head injuries secondary to assault.
The three will appear in court to answer the charge of murder.
Meanwhile Police in the district warn people to seek guidance from the relevant leaders for their misunderstandings to avoid being in conflict with laws.
