MANGOCHI COUNCIL CHAIR URGES VENDORS TO AVOID VENDING ON ROADS

A newly elected council Chairperson of Mangochi district council has asked vendors in the district to avoid the behavior of vending along the roads.

Hassan Chikuta made the call in an interview with Angaliba as it has been observed that vendors in the district especially in trading centers are not using their usual market places instead have moved to the main roads.

It’s observed that the problem becomes worse during market days as many people are seen displaying their products in the roads used by pedestrians and vehicles.

During a visit Angaliba paid in areas like Majuni in Traditional Authority Jalasi, Chiponde and Makawa it has been established that vehicles are usually trafficked due to the mobility of vendors during market days.

In his words the Council Chair advised vendors to stop the malpractice and go back to their markets.

On poor conditions of some markets Chikuta said the council is putting in place good efforts to minimize challenges which are in other markets.

He said the council is currently maintaining taps and toilets in Mpondasi market.
