Minister Urges Action to Address Maternal and Newborn Health Challenges

Date:

Minister of Health, Khumbize Kandodo Chiponda, has emphasized the urgent need for collective action to enhance maternal and newborn healthcare services. She highlighted that the increasing number of births each month is placing significant strain on both healthcare facilities and personnel.

“The monthly birth rate is overwhelming — if you calculate it, it’s as though we require a new hospital each year just to manage the demand,” she remarked. “We need to seriously consider how we can better support our frontline healthcare workers.”
