Malawi and India Discuss Trade Barriers, Seek to Boost Exports of Mangoes and Macadamia Nuts

At the 19th CII India Africa Business Conclave in New Delhi, Minister of Trade and Industry Sosten Gwengwe met with India’s Minister of State Shir Kirti Vardan Singh to address critical trade issues between Malawi and India. Gwengwe highlighted the need to reduce tariffs on Malawi’s mango and macadamia nut exports, which are essential for the country’s economy and smallholder farmers.
The meeting aimed to reach a consensus on trade facilitation measures, including reduced tariffs, to enhance Malawian exporters’ access to the Indian market. Both parties expressed a strong commitment to strengthening trade relations and exploring opportunities to enhance economic ties between the two nations
