MACODESO Reinstates 140 Children on ART in Nkhata-Bay

Date:

In Nkhata-Bay, a remarkable effort has been made to support children living with HIV. This year, 140 children under 14 years old, who had defaulted on their Anti-Retroviral Treatment (ART), have been reinstated.
The main reason for the default was the absence of their guardians, who had traveled to Tanzania and South Africa in search of better economic opportunities.
Thanks to the efforts of Mutisunge AIDS and Community Development Support Organisation (MACODESO), these children are now back on treatment. The organization’s Programmes Manager, Micheal Chirwa, emphasized their commitment to ensuring all children living with HIV have access to and adhere to appropriate treatment.
The Nkhata-Bay District Health Office ART Co-ordinator, Yvonne Mnjeza, praised the collective efforts of stakeholders in improving the medical welfare of children living with HIV.
This initiative is part of a campaign funded by AIDSFONDS, aiming to strengthen access and adherence to ART among children living with HIV in Nkhata-Bay district.
