MaBLEM Sounds Alarm on Fuel Crisis, Urges Government to Address K785 Billion Debt to Petroleum Importers.

Date:

The Malawi Civil Society Led Black Economic Empowerment Movement (MaBLEM) has raised concerns over reports that the government owes petroleum importers a staggering K785 billion due to losses from lower fuel prices. Chairperson Robert Mkwezalamba warns that this debt is disrupting the fuel supply chain, posing a significant threat to the nation.
Mkwezalamba emphasizes the need for urgent action, stating that MaBLEM is committed to engaging with stakeholders to find a solution before the situation escalates into a full-blown fuel crisis. He stresses that their intervention prioritizes the interests of Malawians and seeks to prevent widespread suffering.
MaBLEM calls on the government, MERA, and fuel importers to collaborate in good faith to resolve the matter swiftly, averting a potential crisis.
