The Multi Choice Africa Holdings, has with immediate effect announced the withdrawal of its services in Malawi, effective Wednesday 9 August 2023.
The withdrawal comes in following an injunction that the high court of Malawi in Lilongwe gave the company over the case between Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (MACRA) and the Multi Choice Malawi (MCM), condemning the decision of tariff adjustment of the MCM’s services.
However, DSTV subscribers who already paid their subscription before the withdrawal, will still make use of them until the end of their viewing circle.
“Customers who already paid their subscription for the DStv service will have those services honored until the current 30-day viewing cycle ends on or before 10 September 2023.
“From Wednesday, 9 august 2023, no new subscriptions or reconnections will be accepted”, reads part of the statement.
The DStv (Digital Satellite Television) had first been launched in South Africa on October 6, 1995 and the operation gives Malawian customers a choice of five GOtv and DStv packages.
