Police in Chiradzulu have apprehended a 24-year-old man, Chisomo Bulahim, for the alleged murder of his girlfriend, Triza Umali, 26, after reportedly discovering her with another man.
According to Police Spokesperson Cosmus Kagulo, the incident occurred on Saturday at Kanje Trading Center, where Umali, who worked as a sex worker, was seen socializing with patrons at a bar. Bulahim allegedly confronted her outside the bar, leading to a heated argument, during which he is accused of stabbing her in the chest before fleeing.
Umali was taken to Nguludi Mission Hospital but succumbed to her injuries while receiving treatment. Kagulo noted that Bulahim, upon arrest, admitted to retrieving a knife from his home after hearing rumors about Umali’s interactions with other men at the bar.
