At Kamuzu Stadium, by half time, the Nomads were in the comfort zone as they led 2-0.
Wanderers, who were runners-up last season, took the lead in the 19th minute through Wisdom Mpinganjira‘s fabulous volley to give his father and coach Bob, some relief.

Kamwendo got himself on the score sheet in the 64th minute to put the game beyond the cops’ reach.
The Lilongwe-based Malawi Police Service side scored their consolation goal in the 89th minute through Marco Chiwaya, who headed home a Khumbo Banda free-kick,

Eagles coach Eliah Kananji , formerly of Wanderers and FCB Nyasa Bulletds, accepted defeat, saying some of his charges had a stage fright being their first game in the top-flight.
“But we will pick up as we go along,” he said.
His Nomads counterpart Bob said: “Credit to the boys, they had a strong will to win. I am very happy with their workrate.”
