CHIWANJA CHA YAO CULTURAL FESTIVAL HELD WITH SOME ADVISES TO GOVERNMENT

As the country’s cultural groups are stregthening their values through annual gatherings, Yao people have conducted their cultural festival in Mangochi district with advises to the president Dr Lazarus Chakwera who was present at the event.

In his speech the guest of honor of the function Paramount chief kawinga told goverment to consider timely delivery of relief items saying more Malawians have already started struggling in more parts of the country.Kawinga also said that high profile people must observe unity as he noted that villagers interact each other properly only authorities with high positions do not practice principals of unity. The Paramount also asked the government to respect chiefs and former presidents.Lastly the Paramount Chawinga emphasized a need to conduct cultural festivals of different cultural groups together to ensure oneness.

The Cultural gathering drew a lot of people from different sectors

In his response Chakwera promised to look into the matters seriously.On relief items Chakwera said that by November 11 2022 DODMA will start providing various items to people.Chakwera also mentioned some developmental activities to commence soon like the Mangochi Makanjila road.

Other notable people attended the festival were vice president of Malawi Dr Saulosi Chilima, former president Dr Bakili Muluzi ,Dr Geoge Chaponda who represented professor Author Peter Munthalika and minister of unity, Timothy Mtambo.

At the very end of the event Atupere Muluzi spiced the event by parading from the stadium to the main round about while sorrounded by hundreds of youths chanting songs praising Yao culture with slogan of “wachiyao wangalusa”.

This year’s chiwanja Cha yao festival was done under the theme “promoting development through culture”.
