Zomba Diocese Distributes Food Relief and Seeds to Families Facing Hunger.

Date:

The Catholic Church’s Zomba Diocese has provided maize flour and maize seeds to 450 families in Namitembo Parish to address the growing hunger in the region.

Zomba Diocese’s Vicar General, Fr. Bernard Chipole, stated that the Catholic Church is moved by the struggles of those affected by food shortages across the country. Representing Bishop Alfred Mateyu Chaima, Fr. Chipole encouraged the recipients to use the relief items wisely and specifically urged them not to sell the maize seeds but to plant them for next year’s harvest.

Fr. Chipole acknowledged the challenges posed by the recent drought and encouraged people to remain prayerful and have faith in God as a source of daily sustenance.

“I thank Bishop Chaima for mobilizing this support, which reflects his care for those in need,” Fr. Chipole added.

One recipient, Laiki Phiri, expressed gratitude for the aid and called on other organizations and individuals to extend similar support, as the community continues to face severe food shortages.
