Machinga Bus Depot Users Decry Delay in Shed Rehabilitation.

Date:

Liwonde bus depot users in Machinga are frustrated with the delay in rehabilitating the facility’s shed, which was damaged by heavy winds last year. The chairperson of the depot, John Saizi, expressed concerns that the lack of a functional roof is leaving travelers without a comfortable waiting area. Despite promises from the district council to construct a new shed, the project has stalled at the foundation level.
In response to the concerns, Martin Chiwanda, spokesperson for the Machinga District Council, acknowledged the issue and assured that the council is working to resolve it. He explained that the council has instructed the Public Works Department to prepare a Bill of Quantity for the shed before the onset of the rainy season and is securing funds for the comprehensive rehabilitation of the entire bus depot.
